About

Optical Entrapment is about the art that finds its way into our daily lives and the artists that ignite a passion in us to pause and take a deep breath. This blog was created by me, Adi Baker, out of a need to bring creativity back into my daily life. My hope is that you’ll be inspired by some of the art and artists you find here.

is an independent writer and curator. Her writing has appeared in Canadian Art, C Magazine and the Journal of Curatorial Studies and her most notable curatorial project was with Canada’s National Ballet School, with an archival photographic exhibition celebrating their 50th anniversary. Her interests range from politically motivated art to artists intent on engaging the viewer in a comedic interplay. Adi hold a BAH from Queen’s University and a MA in Art History and a Graduate Diploma in Curatorial Studies from York University.

  1. Hi Adi, I just found this entry. Sorry there was no signage when you went looking for it. We had some difficulties with the manufacturing of the plaque and it took much longer than expected. Sorry there was no signage when you went looking for it. We had some difficulties with the manufacturing of the plaque and it took much longer than expected. But the plaque is up now and has been for quite some while. If you go back there is a free brochure and a free book at the front desk all about the making of the artwork. Thanks again for noticing it and for writing about it.

    1. Hi Micah, thank you for letting me know. This is one of my favourite pieces that I pass nearly on a daily basis during the work week and will be certain to go look for the plaque and literature to update the article.
